Harper’s BAZAAR en Español celebrates the elegance of the fashion from the 1950’s. Remember when women would never go out without a hat and a pair of gloves? Perhaps a bit before your time…
Of all of the recent Fashion Epochs the 50’s represented the epitome and apex of femininity. Designers such as Louis Vuitton, Prada, Dries van Noten and Christian Louboutin shoes have become just a teeny-weeny bit nostalgic of that era for their Fall-Winter season collections (perhaps inspired by the “Mad Men” TV series huge success?). Their collections have provided us a chance to enjoy the 50’s as well as to reflect on those times, yet adding a contemporary feel to the mix.
To the fashion addicts out there, I am sure you have noticed that Michelle is wearing an original 1957 Haute Couture “hourglassed” ensemble designed by Mr. Christian Dior. And in the picture below, a kimono sleeved satin coat with appliqué velvet flowers from Mr. Pierre Balmain, 1956.
Inspired by the refinement of the epoch, this editorial was shot within the magnificent confines of La Maison Baccarat in Paris. Before being the flagship of La Maison Baccarat, interior being redesigned by Philippe Stark, this Hôtel Particulier was previously owned by Marie-Laure de Noailles, viscountess de Noailles, an influential patron of the arts of the 20th century.
