It is always fun to go through Benjamin Kanarek‘s archives and discover fashion editorials he photographed then and witness how creative he already was in the pre-digital non-photoshop era.

For this post I found a series he photographed for L’Officiel Paris featuring an exclusive fashion editorial of Pierre Cardin’s Collection with American Super Model, Roberta Chirko (now Chirko Myers).

Nobody can forget those huge green eyes, beauty mark, bangs with long straight hair and melting smile of Roberta. She represented the personification of the typical healthy girl in ELLE Magazine. Roberta Chirko grew up in the western suburbs of Chicago and traveled extensively as a fashion model. She lived in Paris and New York City from 1983 until 1992. You can get a clear idea of the notoriety she had back then with the video below.

Benjamin worked with Roberta Chirko several times. I might find some more tantalizing tear-sheets in a future journey through Benjamin’s archives.

Benjamin often photographed Pierre Cardin’s Collections as his lighting provided the perfect enhancement of the architecture, volume and fabrics used and created by the iconic Fashion Designer. You can check Benjamin’s first cover for L’Officiel Paris featuring a dress from Pierre Cardin here and an exclusive Pierre Cardin fashion editorial he shot for Votre Beauté Magazine here.
