\nBastille Day<\/strong>\u00a0is the name given in English-speaking countries to the\u00a0French<\/a>\u00a0National Day<\/a>, which is celebrated on the 14th of July each year. In France, it is formally called\u00a0La F\u00eate Nationale<\/strong>\u00a0(The National Celebration<\/em>) and commonly\u00a0Le quatorze juillet<\/strong>\u00a0(the fourteenth of July<\/em>).

Bastille Day La F\u00eate Nationale<\/figcaption><\/figure>
\nIt commemorates the 1790\u00a0F\u00eate de la F\u00e9d\u00e9ration<\/a>, held on the first anniversary of the\u00a0storming of the Bastille<\/a>\u00a0on 14 July 1789; the anniversary of the storming of the\u00a0Bastille<\/a>\u00a0fortress-prison was seen as a symbol of the uprising of the modern nation, and of the reconciliation of all the French

\ninside the constitutional monarchy which preceded the\u00a0First Republic<\/a>, during the\u00a0French Revolution<\/a>. Festivities and official ceremonies are held all over France. The oldest and largest regular\u00a0military parade\u00a0in Europe is held on the morning of 14 July, on the\u00a0Champs-\u00c9lys\u00e9es<\/a>\u00a0avenue in\u00a0Paris<\/a>\u00a0in front of the\u00a0President of the Republic<\/a>, French officials and foreign guests.

The\u00a0Bastille Day Military Parade<\/a>\u00a0is the French\u00a0military parade<\/a>\u00a0that has been held on the morning of 14 July each year in\u00a0Paris<\/a>\u00a0since 1880.<\/p>\n

While previously held elsewhere within or near the capital city, since 1918 it has been held on the\u00a0Champs-Elys\u00e9es<\/a>, with the evident agreement of the Allies as represented in the Versailles Peace Conference, and with the exception of the period of German occupation from 1940 to 1944.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
