A woman’s handbag is her most valuable daily possession. It is her portable jewelry box, her safe, her portable assistant and her closest ally.
\nIt contains her identity, her look, her work, her connection to the world and who knows what else. But as our attention span shortens and we choose new
\nallies every\u00a0day, need new looks every week and change assistant every year, being a women’s handbag is not as stable a job as it used to be.
\n 
\nThis trend applies to numerous accessories and clothes, and as much as it is good for the economy, is on the front page of my fashion’s sins list.
\nHowever, this is what we love about fashion isn\u2019t it? When we think we’ve figured it out, it taps you on the shoulder and smacks you with a dress made out\u00a0of meat.
\n 
\nThe trend is strongest among students reaching their 20s. Raised in the era of the internet and \u201cJust-in-time\u201d where all we know and feel is forever
\nchanging, clothes\u00a0and accessories are no longer faithful allies that can be relied on for years, but enemies that haven\u2019t revealed themselves, as campus fashion is as\u00a0diverse as it is unpredictable.

\nI asked 100 women between 18 and 22 to name three of the top qualities they look consider most when shopping. 68 answered \u201ca low price\u201d whilst
\nonly 19 answered\u201cdurability\u201d. Any item bought on these terms is merely expected to last for one night out before being replaced the next day. This obviously translates
\ninto a lack of\u00a0quality from certain makers who would rather concentrate on cutting overheads to stay afloat amidst the rise in number of discount retail shops.<\/p>\n

But what kind of a safe breaks 24 hours after being purchased? What kind of ally turns on you before you even get acquainted? Lastly, if a handbag contains a woman’s
\nidentity, what is to be said about the fact that it is changed every 3 months? There is definitely a parallel, or at least a common factor, between youth’s instability or\u00a0uneasiness and this trend.
\nFashion is great. It is forever changing. It can be cheap; it can be expensive. But one thing that fashion should not be, is expendable.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
