As of late I have been using my FA 50mm f1.4 and DA 70mm f2.4 Limited Pentax lenses for most of my beauty stuff and on the rare occassion my DA* 16-50 f 2.8 Pentax zoom at the longer end for shots that I find it necessary to benefit by the versatility of a zoom lens.<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-10087\" title=\"Lens_FA50_main\" src=\"https:\/\/thebkmag.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/09\/Lens_FA50_main.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"370\" height=\"280\" srcset=\"https:\/\/thebkmag.com\/rebuild\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/09\/Lens_FA50_main.jpg 370w, https:\/\/thebkmag.com\/rebuild\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/09\/Lens_FA50_main-300x227.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 370px) 100vw, 370px\" \/><br \/>\nI really like the perspective this focal length produces and am not presently a big fan of &#8220;THAT COMPRESSED&#8221; long telephoto look that was so popular throughout the 80&#8217;s &amp; 90&#8217;s.\u00a0 But hey things change and perhaps one day i&#8217;ll do a beauty shoot with my Tamron SP 500mm Mirror Lens.<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-10094\" title=\"TamronSP500-55bb\" src=\"https:\/\/thebkmag.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/09\/TamronSP500-55bb.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"320\" height=\"320\" srcset=\"https:\/\/thebkmag.com\/rebuild\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/09\/TamronSP500-55bb.jpg 320w, https:\/\/thebkmag.com\/rebuild\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/09\/TamronSP500-55bb-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/thebkmag.com\/rebuild\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/09\/TamronSP500-55bb-300x300.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 320px) 100vw, 320px\" \/><br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-10095\" title=\"Canon_ef_s_18_55mm_f3.5_5.6_is_zoom_lens\" src=\"https:\/\/thebkmag.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/09\/Canon_ef_s_18_55mm_f3.5_5.6_is_zoom_lens-590x457.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"590\" height=\"457\" \/><br \/>\nSo the next time someone tells you that you NEED a certain focal length to get a Beauty of Fashion shot, think twice and consider this&#8230;A good kit zoom lens, shot at optimal aperture i.e. 2 stops down from wide open, will do quite well for most applications.<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-10084\" title=\"350__1_583_17-50mm_f28_EX_DC_OS_HSM\" src=\"https:\/\/thebkmag.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/09\/350__1_583_17-50mm_f28_EX_DC_OS_HSM.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"350\" height=\"350\" srcset=\"https:\/\/thebkmag.com\/rebuild\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/09\/350__1_583_17-50mm_f28_EX_DC_OS_HSM.png 350w, https:\/\/thebkmag.com\/rebuild\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/09\/350__1_583_17-50mm_f28_EX_DC_OS_HSM-150x150.png 150w, https:\/\/thebkmag.com\/rebuild\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/09\/350__1_583_17-50mm_f28_EX_DC_OS_HSM-300x300.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 350px) 100vw, 350px\" \/><br \/>\nIf you are not using flash, it would be preferable to get a fixed focal length lens as optimal sharpness in most cases is around f3.5 to f4.0, which most kit lens are not capable of matching.
